FAQ's - Weddings
Wedding photography for me, is about capturing the real moments that make your day unforgettable. The laughter, the nerves, the emotion and all the little things that happen in between. My role is simply to tell the story of your wedding as it naturally unfolds, in a way that feels honest, artistic and relaxed.
I never want your day to feel like a photo shoot. Most of the time I work quietly in the background, blending in with your guests and capturing genuine moments as they happen. When you do need me, I’m right there to guide things gently and keep everything running smoothly.
From the moment you book, I’m here to help make the whole experience easier and more enjoyable. Whether that’s helping plan a sensible timeline, visiting your venue, arranging an engagement shoot or simply answering questions along the way. Weddings can feel overwhelming when you’re planning them, but the day itself should feel relaxed, joyful and completely your own.
Some frequently asked questions to assist you!
Q1
Do you price your wedding services by the hour?
Yes — I package my services around set hours, but I’m definitely not running around checking my watch on the day. Weddings rarely run exactly to schedule, so if things drift a little (as they often do), you should never be worrying about whether I’ll suddenly disappear.
During the planning process, I’ll help you work out how much coverage you actually need. That means regular communication, attending the rehearsal when possible and offering guidance based on experience so everything feels relaxed, well-timed and stress-free!
Q2
How can we lock in the date?
Securing your date is nice and easy. Once the simple agreement is signed and the deposit is paid, the date is officially yours and locked into my calendar. Even better, your price is fixed from that moment; no surprises later.
From there, the fun part really begins. We can relax and focus on planning your day properly; timelines, ideas, must-have moments and all the little details that make your wedding yours. I’ll be there to guide you through the process, offer advice where it helps and make sure everything feels organised, calm and enjoyable... exactly how wedding planning should be.
Q3
Can you help us plan our wedding?
Absolutely and not just on the photography side. As mentioned above, I’m always very happy to help with planning too. After years of photographing weddings, I’ve picked up a lot of useful knowledge along the way, from what works brilliantly on the day to what’s best avoided. I have a great network of trusted contacts across the industry, so if you need recommendations for anything at all; venues, planners, florists, hair and makeup, bands or celebrants! I’m more than happy to point you in the right direction. I can also help you shape a realistic timeline, making sure the day flows smoothly without feeling rushed or over-structured.
Most importantly, I understand how special a wedding day is. It’s not just another date in the diary, it’s your day and I genuinely want it to be as relaxed, enjoyable, and memorable as possible. If I can help in any way, big or small, I will... When you feel calm and supported, that’s when the best moments (and photographs) happen.
Q4
How would you describe your style?
My approach is best described as documentary wedding photography or wedding photojournalism. Rather than directing or staging moments, I focus on quietly observing your day as it naturally unfolds.
I work close to the action but aim to blend in with your guests, allowing real moments, emotions and interactions to happen without interruption. You won’t find me asking you to “redo” moments or pretend to get ready again for the camera.
The goal is simple... to capture the genuine story of your wedding day as it actually happens. The laughter, the nerves, the fleeting glances and the unexpected moments that make your celebration unique. These authentic moments are what truly bring your memories back to life years later.
Q5
Do you take group photographs?
Although my approach is primarily documentary, I completely understand that most couples would still like a small number of traditional group photographs.
I usually recommend keeping these to around three to five key groups so they can be organised quickly and without disrupting the flow of the day. With the help of one of your ushers or a member of the wedding party, we can gather everyone efficiently and complete these photographs in just a few minutes.
Guests generally prefer to spend their time celebrating rather than waiting around for formal photographs, so I aim to organise this part of the day quickly before returning to capturing the natural moments as they unfold.
Q6
Is there a limit on the number of images we receive?
No — there’s absolutely no “cap” on the number of images you’ll receive. The image counts mentioned in my packages are simply the minimum you can expect, not a maximum. I don’t believe in holding images back or putting an artificial limit on your memories. If there are great moments, genuine reactions and beautiful details from your day, they’ll be included. Every wedding is different and the final number naturally depends on what unfolds; the timeline, the energy, the number of events and all those unscripted moments in between.
My goal is to tell the full story of your day, honestly and completely, so you can relive it properly; not just the highlights, but the quiet moments, the laughter and everything that made it uniquely yours.
Q7
How do we get our pictures?
With all of my services, you’ll receive your images in full-resolution JPEG format, completely free of watermarks. Your photos will be delivered in a beautiful, easy-to-use online gallery, designed for you to enjoy, download, and share without any fuss.
The gallery makes it simple for friends and family to view the images and download their favourites too; no complicated logins, no awkward restrictions, just straightforward access to your memories. Whether you’re sharing with loved ones near or far, everyone can enjoy the images in the quality they were meant to be seen.
Once your gallery is live, the photos are yours to keep, print and relive whenever you like; because these moments deserve to be enjoyed, not locked away.
Q8
Do you photograph in colour or black & white, and do you edit all the images?
To give you the best of both worlds, I deliver your images in both colour and black & white. Some moments feel perfect in colour, while others gain an extra layer of emotion and timelessness when presented in black and white.
All photographs are individually reviewed and edited so that the final collection feels consistent, natural and true to the story of your wedding day.
Q9
Do you provide video content?
Yes. If you’d love a little motion alongside your photographs, I offer a Video Content Add-On. A dedicated content creator captures short, candid video clips throughout your day while I focus on the photography.
These natural snippets of laughter, movement and emotion beautifully complement your photos. They’re perfect for sharing on social media and for reliving those “you had to be there” moments.
It’s the ideal middle ground for couples who like the idea of video but don’t need full videography. Simple, natural, and full of feeling.
Honestley, it’s a smart add-on. Couples get the Instagram-friendly clips they crave without hiring an entire film crew that looks like they’re shooting the next Marvel movie. Quietly elegant solution!
Q10
Do you edit all of the images?
Yes — every single image you receive is individually edited by me. There’s no AI, no automated presets, no outsourcing and no third-party editing houses. Nothing is sent overseas and nothing is handled by bots.
I photograph your wedding with a very specific look and feel in mind and the editing is a huge part of that process. From colour and tone to contrast and black-and-white conversions, each image is carefully finished by hand so the final gallery feels consistent, natural and true to the day.
Quite simply, I’m the artist with the vision from start to finish. When you book me, you’re not just booking someone to show up with a camera; you’re booking my eye, my experience and my personal involvement in every image you receive.
Q11
What preparations do you make before our wedding?
We will talk regularly before your wedding. I will help with the final details such as the timeline, key moments, family group photographs and the names of important members of the wedding party. It ensures I understand exactly how your day is planned to unfold.
On a practical level I also make careful preparations to make sure everything runs smoothly. I always allow plenty of travel time to avoid delays and plan my route in advance so I arrive relaxed and ready to start documenting your day.
I photograph weddings with two professional cameras and carry backup equipment with me at all times. Nothing is left to chance and I can focus entirely on capturing the story of your wedding day.
Q12
Can we catch up in person?
Definitely — I genuinely love meeting my couples and I think it’s a really important part of the process. It gives us the chance to make sure we’re on the same page, talk through your ideas and get a feel for what matters most to you on the day. Weddings work best when there’s trust and a good connection and that starts with a proper conversation.
If you’re local, I’m always happy to meet in person, just get in touch and we’ll arrange something. Obviously if meeting face-to-face isn’t possible, that’s absolutely fine too. We can catch up over a video call instead and still spend quality time getting to know each other.
I really enjoy building relationships with my couples, not just showing up on the wedding day and disappearing afterwards. The goal is to feel comfortable together, have a few laughs and hopefully become lifelong friends along the way.
I usually also suggest an engagement or elopement shoot ahead of the wedding. It’s a great way for you to get used to being in front of the camera, relax into it and see how I work... so when the big day arrives, everything feels natural and easy.
Q13
Do you come to the rehearsal?
If I’m available on the day, I usually like to come along. It’s a great opportunity to see how everything will flow, offer a bit of guidance if needed and help iron out any small details ahead of time. It also gives me the chance to meet your bridal party and families beforehand, which makes a big difference on the wedding day itself. Familiar faces mean everyone feels more relaxed and things tend to run more smoothly when we’re not all meeting for the first time under pressure.
Ultimately, it’s just another way I can help you feel supported and confident going into your big day; less stress for you and better moments captured naturally.
Q14
Do you travel for weddings?
Definitely. I’m very used to travelling for weddings and absolutely love it. The majority of my work has been around Hampshire in the UK and in Florida, but I’ve also photographed weddings all over Europe.
Whether it’s a local celebration, a destination wedding or something a little more adventurous, I’m always happy to pack a bag and be there. Travel logistics are something I’m completely comfortable with, so it’s all handled smoothly and stress-free for you.
If you’re planning a wedding somewhere special, just let me know; I’m always excited to follow love wherever it decides to take place!
Q15
Are you a full-time photographer?
Yes. Wedding photography is my full-time profession, not a part-time hobby or occasional weekend job.
I have been photographing weddings professionally for over ten years, which means a huge amount of experience capturing the many different moments, emotions and unexpected events that naturally happen during a wedding day.
Because this is my full-time career, I’m able to dedicate my full attention, time and energy to every wedding I photograph. From preparation and communication before the day, to careful editing and delivery afterwards, my focus is entirely on providing the best possible experience and photographs for my couples.
